Der Schmied von Gent
Der Schmied von Gent is the last opera by the Austrian composer Franz Schreker. Schreker, who was one of the most played opera composers in the German-speaking part of Europe in the 1910s and early 'twenties', had to watch emerging Nazi boycott his music. Der Schmied von Gent quickly disappeared from the poster after its premiere in Berlin in 1932. Opera Ballet Vlaanderen focuses the spotlights on this forgotten opera, the story of which starts at Ajuinlei in Ghent.
